On behalf of Father John Vien, welcome to Mary, Queen of Peace. We are grateful that you are seeking information about Catholic education.
As Catholic educators promote faith, academic excellence, and virtues they strengthen the future of our faith. The most important part of their ministry is to make sure the Catholic faith continues to grow. Today’s students will be the next generation to uphold the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. As ministers, parents, and educators they will spread and share the good news found in the Gospels.
Each Catholic school is special and unique. The students at Mary, Queen of Peace grow closer to Jesus-Christ as they gain new skills and confidence. In addition to going to Mass and participating in religion class our students learn about their faith through the Catechesis of the Good Shepard. Montessori lesson’s give the children a hands-on experience as they learn about their relationship with God.
There are many supplements that support our excellent curriculum. For example ALEKS, Simple Solutions, and Rocket Math enhance our math program. Accelerated Reader builds a learner’s reading skills and comprehension. Learning consultants, counselor, reading specialist, and speech therapists uplift and challenge learners. Devoted teachers work with parents in recognizing each learner as an individual gift from God.
As students grow socially they serve others through our stewardship program and learn to relate to others through the principles of Virtue Based Restorative Discipline.
The next time you are in the beautiful community of Webster Groves stop by for a tour and Mass.
Mary Queen of Peace Parish School is an Archdiocesan Catholic elementary school that finds its center in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. As a faith community, our mission is to create an environment that encourages each student's spiritual, moral and academic growth with a commitment to stewardship.
As our school community gathers weekly at the Celebration of the Liturgy and Eucharist we center ourselves on the core of Catholic education. Father John Vien, our pastor, calls the congregation to place themselves in the presence of Jesus-Christ. His child friendly homilies, along with the principles of Virtue Based Restorative Discipline, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and stewardship, reinforce the teachings found in the Gospels.
As our teachers strive to teach the individual learner, they uphold the standards of our excellent curriculum. The goals and standards of each subject including Spanish, art, music, computer, and P.E. are constantly under review. Parents and educators come together to check the progress of each preschooler – Eighth Grader. In the end, our students shine on standardized tests and during academic bowls, math competitions, and Bellarmine Speech League meets.
Every learner needs to feel welcome to reach their fullest potential. Makerspace, school plays, musical performances, academic bowls, Bellarmine speech league, chess club, and Irish dance are a few ways in which we enhance a child’s learning experience. However, any program needs to embedded with love for the individual learner. Students at Mary, Queen of Peace find success by being embraced by a network of supporting adults.
